Topic: 1950 F-1 Window seals and anti rattlers

Maxthedog1    -- 03-13-2018 @ 3:20 PM
I have two questions regarding the windows and seals on my '50 F-1. I acquired this truck about a year ago. It had been repainted 30 some years ago. When repainted, the trim around the vent windows as well as the divider bar were both painted. Was this trim originally painted at the factory, vs. being stainless? I scr*ped a little of the 30 year old paint off, and it appears to be more paint underneath.

Also - I want to replace the rubber seals and the anti rattlers around the vent window and the roll up window. What is the process for removing each of these two windows?

Thank you for any help.

I am still looking for some advice on this. I've replaced window seals on a hardtop and convertible, but not a pickup door. Thanks.

The frame around the vent windows is painted semi-gloss black. All of the other information you need is in Part 4, Bodies and Cabs, of the factory Shop Manual.

Thanks for the info on the paint for the vent windows.

As for removing the regular windows, I don't have access to the Shop Manual. Is there somewhere I can access just the Part 4 you referenced?

Thanks again.

All of the usual '50 Ford truck parts suppliers will be happy to sell you a shop manual. If you intend to keep this truck, you need to get one.

Probably not going to keep it. Thanks.
