Topic: 1950 F1 Firewall Number

In the upper middle of my firewall the letters/numbers-FB 13 are stamped but the FB is inverted. Does anybody have a clue what they stand for? I have looked for the Ford vehicle number in the usual places where it was originally put but it is no longer there. The only place I haven't looked is on the frame rails but my understanding is they are located on the top of the frame rail. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Generally there is a tag secured to the inside of the glove box door which gives you the VIN#, axle ratio, color code, etc. You will also find the VIN# (stamped into the frame) on top of the right frame rail near the front crossmember.

The assembly plants stamped numbers into the middle of the cowling under the hood to help keep up with production. The ones I have seen have more letters and digits than yours, and they generally give the production number, assembly plant code, assembly date and color code. I have no idea what yours means unless it is really LB which would be the code for the Long Beach assembly plant.. These numbers varied from plant to plant. Some plants didn't stamp numbers into the cowl.

There should be two tags attached to your truck, one under the hood and one inside the glove box. The one under the hood is called the engine number, if I remember correctly (old age). The tag was attached to the engine during assembly, and, when the engine was installed in the truck, the tag was scr*w*d to the firewall under the hood on the right (passenger} side. The engine number, which appears on both tags, is the serial number.
