Topic: 1947 Mercury 2 Door Sedan

Love2Hunt    -- 08-03-2026 @ 2:43 PM
We are doing an off body restoration of our one family all original 1947 2 Door Sedan. When ordering the glass, the supplier said we have a long door sedan. Upon looking up long door 2 door sedan the information we found said only 34 were built in 1947. That they are rare and highly collectable. We are almost ready to show the car. How can we verify that the car is a long door and only 34 were built.
Thank You

Measure the length of the door with a tape measure and ask the Mercury adviser.

I will look in my reference material to see if I can confirm that there were Mercury Tudor sedans manufactured for sale in the US. There were Canadian Mercury Tudor sedans, but I don't know how many were manufactured.

If you can post a photo take before disassembly and the serial number on the frame, it would help to identify the car model.

The car in the photo is a "sedan coupe".

There were 29,284 Sedan Coupe (long door coupes) sold in 1947. This was the only coupe body style that was available in 1946, 1947 and 1948. Mercury did make a 3 passenger coupe in 1941 and 1942. Ford made the 3 passenger coupe in every year from 1941-1948.

The car looks like it will be a show winner when you are finished. I hope that you are a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club and will bring your car to one of the National Meets when finished.
