My temperature gauge sits beyond H as it should with the ignition off. After start up the needle is just above half and gradually moves up past the H. I replaced both sending units to no avail. it was suggested on the Ford Barn not to use any sealer on the threads because it needs a good ground so before I remove the sending units, I ran a jumper wire to ground on each one and still have the same problem. Any ideas?? A previous owner changed from 6V positive to negative ground if that has anything to do with it TIM CARLIG This message was edited by dean333 on 8-24-25 @ 10:00 AM

The gauges should work with either polarity, but I would go back to POS ground if it was my car. The sending units need a good ground and do not need any sealant on the threads. The cooling system is considered low pressure and the pipe threads will give the sending units good grounds. If you have purchased new reproduction sending units, the one with 1 terminal may be your problem. The reproduction units are designed for POS ground and may not work with NEG ground. They do not use the bi-metal strips like the ones in the King Seeley units. I wou8ld look for a good original unit and change back to POS ground. If you change back to POS ground, you will have to replace the ignition coil with one that is designed for POS ground, polarize the generator and change the direction of the wire going through the ammeter. You will have to disconnect any transistorized accessories as well. Tom
