I have a 39 Mercury and purchased a Mitch*ll overdrive for it some time ago but have yet to install it. Any advice on installation or driving experience after installation would be welcome. Thanks, Steve Middleton Cicero Indiana.

Haven't done one myself, but I understand that the rear floorboard needs a bump-up, and even then you may need to take speed bumps carefully. Happy cruising! Alan

If your '39 Merc has one piece driveshaft / pinion, the install will require a pinion gear that uses a coupling sleeve. I'll also guess that the rear gear is a 3:54 to 1 a pretty tall gear for an OD with a stock flathead, unless you live in flat country. This message was edited by 42merc on 6-25-24 @ 7:11 AM
