Assuming these parts are the same as the ones used on 1946 Ford Passenger cars, the Green Bible states that they are P.N. 99A-18055-A. The lengths are 4.75" and the same links are used on the front and the rear shocks.

According to the 1948 Mercury Chassis parts catalog the P/N is: 78-18055-A and the length is 4".

The front shock absorbers mount on the side of the frame and the rear shocks mount on the bottom of the frame, so each corner uses a specific shock absorber.

I don't have a reference for the shock arms used on different year Fords. I don't have a 46 or 47 so I could measure the shock arms. Andrew Falandes in Massachusetts rebuilds the shock and may be able to tell you how to determine that you have the correct arms on your shock absorbers.
