Topic: 1939 Merc 4 dr quarter window seal flip out type

Do the quarter window seals for a 1939 Ford fit the 1939 Mercury. This is a 4dr Town Sedan flip out style window. If not, are there any NOS out there?

Welcome to the land of Early Mercury's. With a few exceptions like motor, brakes, and suspension pieces NOTHING from a Ford will work/fit a 39 Mercury. As I work more and more on mine I am constantly amazed at how many more seemingly insignificant pieces are "DIFFERENT" than a Ford. Unless you happen upon a NOS set on Fordbarn of Ebay the only way I know of that you "may" obtain some is "maybe" Steele Rubber products!! IF Steele can make themA, I would be interested in going in on it too for a set!!! AS an FYI, I am currently having to "piece" together floor board seals from two sets of 39 Ford sets to make a set for the 39 Mercury

Do a search in this Forum for an answer. I think somebody used the Ford seals on the Mercury.

I too would like a pair of 39 Merc quarter window rubber mouldings. I postponed installing new glass for these windows for fear of the mouldings getting damaged.
Tom I tried doing a search without luck, but I'll try different keywords.

I finally had a chance to do a search for the topic. Here is a link to it: https://www.earlyfordv8.org/forum/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=16&Topic=7038&keywords=quarter%20window

A contributor to the Forum said that the 1940 Ford and Mercury seals are the same. The 1939 Mercury has the same body as the 1940, so the 1940 Ford seal should fit the 1939 Mercury. I checked the P/N in the Body Parts catalog and they do have different P/Ns, so there probably is some difference.

Let us know if how they work out for you so we will be able to answer the question in the future.
