Topic: 1948 Mercury M47 Pickup Repair Manual

FreddieM47    -- 04-20-2021 @ 9:44 AM
I am searching for a comprehensive repair manual for, or that includes, the 1948 Mercury M47 Pickup. This year seems to be mostly left out of many manuals with multiple included years.

I understand that the 1948 Ford F1 Pickup, with the exception of the body trim, is essentially the same vehicle, so a repair manual for the Ford, also difficult to find, would be good.

While my pickup is mostly restored, I would like to have a reference in the event of any needed maintenance and/or repair.

Thank for any leads/assistance.

I am not aware of a comprehensive repair manual for any Ford made vehicle. Ford did publish Service Letters and you can find both hard copy and CD versions. The 1942-1948 Service Manual does cover most systems, but assumes that you are familiar with the vehicle and servicing Ford products. If you have both of those, you should be able to repair most things on your M47.

Here is a link to the service manual at Mac's: https://www.macsautoparts.com/service-manual-ford-lincoln-mercury-soft-bound-book-224-pages-passenger-pickup-32-66950-1.html

They also have many other service manuals and the Service Letters.

Feel free to come to this Forum to ask any questions or for help with diagnosing problems. You probably should post you questions in the Truck section of this website, as many areas are specific to the trucks.

I have been a Studebaker owner and Club member for over 20 years. Studebaker Club vendors still provide a variety of manuals, parts and services for all of the vehicles. I never had a problem finding what I needed for my 1951 Champion.

I figured such materials would also be available to Ford owners for all vehicles.

Thanks for your response, and recommended future "Forum" choice.
