Topic: caddy hubcaps

Hey everyone, can I get help with this? I have these beautiful '57 caddy hubcaps and they are 15 inch but won't fit my original '49 Merc wheels. I know a lot of folks used these caps [and still do] but I don't know anyone personally around here that knows what wheel will work with these and fit my Merc.
Thanks,
Don Ford

Generally Cadillac hubcaps were designed to fit Cadillac wheels. That is why they won't fit or stay on most other wheels. You need to go to a Cadillac discussion board or possibly the Jalopy Journal discussion board and ask this question.

If I wanted to put full wheel covers on a 49 Merc, I would go for the Lincoln hubcaps from 1949-1956. They are 15" hubcaps and look like they belong on the car.

In the early 50s, it was common to see Cadillac hubcaps on ford and chev customs. as I recall someone figured out a way to remove the inner sh*ll on the early caps and adapt them to trim rings so they would fit other makes. This may have been for show purposes only, but they sure looked good, Then someone started making Cadillac type hubcaps that would fit most other cars..

I have 1957 caddy hubcaps on my 41 ford with 15"48 merc wheels never had a problem with them falling off, im not sure if 48 merc wheels will work on your application

Your car and the hubcaps both look very good...
