My son and I are thinking about reproducing some 1940 Mercury dash parts. He has 3D printed the radio grill and the eyebrow. If you are interested in buying these parts, send me an E-Mail with your contact information and what you would be willing to pay. hi Tom, in looking thru the mercury info. i ran across this old post. I have a 1941 mercury convertible and the dash plastic is in poor condition. did you and your son do the project and or do you know where i might obtain parts for my car in todays market. I can find some parts on ebay, but they are not much better than what i now have. tks Jb

There was not enough interest in the project. We only received 1 reply saying that the person was interested in buying one, so the project has been scr*pped. I don't know of any source for the dash plastic for the 41 Mercury. If you have some that is good enough to make a mold, I suggest that you look into making the mold and casting it in an acrylic plastic. You could also make a pattern out of another material to use to make a mold. This would be much less expensive that having it 3D printed. If you can't find any that is good enough for a mold, you can order original engineering drawings of the plastic pieces from the Archives and have a set 3D printed. The biggest problem you will have with this process is gluing the pieces together and then sanding and finishing it. 3D printed objects come out of the printer with rough surfaces and need to be smoothed before using. Once again I appreciate the advice. I do know a guy that makes old airstream RV plastic parts and will give him a call. I will advise via post if this works as it could help others. Jb
