Hello everyone. I recently acquired a 39 Mercury 8 two door and am interested in making it safer with turn signals and safety belts. I would appreciate any guidance on applications that others have used to meet this end. I appreciate your advice. Where did you buy yours and any install tips would be great.

Thanks all!
J

I got a setup for my 1940 Ford, got the switch, flasher, and amber bulbs for the front parking lights, and instructions.I also got a flasher that "Beeps" (didn't use the one with the setup) when the signals are on, from Joe's Auto parts-a little pricey-$29.00, but worth it because the signal switch had R and Lights on it and I couldn't see them in the sun at times. I'll look in my cabinet , I think I still have the box, if I do I'll reply with vendor.(I think they were from Bob Drake.) You will have to supply the wire for the rear lights, and the front ones. A lot of crawling around running wires but , I've got signals!!!

Congratulations on your new car. You are now the proud owner of the lowest production 1939 Mercury. I have always liked the unique tail lights and art-deco dash of the 39 Mercury.

The 39 and 40 Mercury cars do not have a spot on the steering column to mount a conventional turn signal switch. The electronic turn signals offered by Electro-Tech allow you to place a momentary contact toggle switch under the dash and works well with LED bulbs. I would recommend using the LED bulbs for brake and turn signals.

You will have to add wires from the brake switch to the turn signal switch and from the turn signal switch to the brake lights as well as wires from the turn signal switch to the parking lights.
