Another like story. There was a novice amateur person not far from where I live. He fell in love with 1932 Fords. And that is all he knew. So he called V-8 Club members asking for help to assemble all the 1932 Ford parts that he had acquired. Well, a coupe body doesn't have much in common with a Tudor body but he thought they did. He also had some parts and engines for sale. When I went to visit he had a LB block that he at least knew what it was and he told me he wanted $1500 for it. Well, the story goes that the prevoius owner had it sandblasted and painted --- blue, but not just any blue. The carb, distributor, water pumps, spark plug looms -- yup anything on the engine. Well, if you know anything about sandblasting you know that the sand gets in everything. So after looking it over and verifying it was an LB, I told him that it was too much not knowing the condition of the internals. Short story long --- 6 months later, no farther along in his 1932 Ford project, he calls me again asking for help assembying the project and says the price has dropped on the engine and if I was till interested, I could come get it for $500. I told him about my thoughts about sand and declined. Two months later I get another call. Price drop again. $300 if I want it. Well, the weak side of me at least goes and looks at it again and I find that it now includes a second set of heads and another blue distributor. I offer him $200, he thinks about it and I head for the car. He said fine and I now have a (as we say in Minnesota) boat anchor that is painted blue in my garage.
