I need to put a new face decal on my 40 clock. How do I remove the knob on the stem and the hands on the face?

The knob twists off counter clockwise. Just grab the stem with long nose pliers. ( If that fails, crush it in the vice and get a new one.) The hands pull straight off, but it isn't always easy. Use something like Liquid Wrench and let it soak for a while. Then make a tool that fits over the shaft under the hands and pulls evenly. The minute hand runs on the center (small) shaft while the hour hand fits over the larger sleeve. You need a very thin tool to fit between the hands and pull just on the minute hand. Maybe a real clock repair guy has a better way or a better tool, but this has worked for me.
