Topic: Headlight Rim Bezel

Is there a ID # on the originals to be able to tell if they are not reproductions, e.g. radio grille and hood pieces have the O1A- in their castings. Or are there any significant differences from the originals to what one buy new today?

  Hi Ken,
Authentic bezels have the part number cast upon them near the bottom, beneath the screw hole (inside of course).
The ribs at the top that surround the parking lamp lens are more defined. That is, they go all the way to the edge of the bezel (top) and all the way to the lens opening.
The original bezel is noticeably heavier. I suppose I could weigh one if you desire.
Obviously, Drake, Vintique, etc. WON'T be present.
Hope that helps.
Mike

I have two sets of the repo headlamp bezels. Can't recall how old they are and don't know if they are Drake or Vintique. Both have the Ford part number and neither has the manufacturer logo. They look just like the originals.

  Hi Ken,
If you'd like a photo of a real bezel looks like next to a repop, let me know.
Unless Drake and the other repop places are doing a better job than they used to, there is a noticeable difference in the two.

  Hi Mike,

If you do not mind on the photo? That would be great. Thanks.
