I am replacing the kingpins (spindle bolts) and bushings on a '47 Ford Pickup and have a couple of questions. What type of grease do you use for assembly? I am thinking of wheel bearing grease as it may last where the spindle bolt passes through the frame (which is where I had trouble driving the old ones out). The existing spindle bolt passed through a thick washer and then into the top bushing. The kit has a dished washer and felt washer and I assume these replace the thick washer. Should I reuse the thick washer or convert to the dished and felt washer?

Use the parts that came with the kit. Also take the spindles to a machine shop and have them hone the new bushings to correctly fit the pins. Use regular lube grease as it was used from the factory. The same grease you use to grease any fittings.
