Can set the hands on my clock but cannot wind it in the clockwise direction. Could this be a mainspring problem ? I know zilch about clocks. Thank you ! Kenny C

Hard to say what might be wrong until it is taken apart. On occasion I have remove the clock motor and oiled the motor and spun the balance wheel. You may have to do this off and on for two or three days and it may unwind the clock. Your best bet is to send it to a clock repair shop and have it checked by an expert.

If you have a '40 Ford clock that works consider yourself very fortunate. They are very hard to come by working or not. There are no exact reproductions or replacement parts available unless you're lucky enough to make a rare swap meet find. That being the case, I would try to locate a competent clock or watch repair man to have it serviced if possible.
