What is the name of the blue paint color that was used on the 1940 standard coupe hubcaps and the chrome hood emblems.
Washington Blue?
Thanks, Brent

  Brent--

On page 4-43 of "It's Ford For 40", the book talks about hubcap color for Ford V8 models. It says, "The recessed areas were painted dark blue - much darker than the current reproductions". The color chart shown on page 1-75 shows "Lyon Blue" as a dark blue exterior color for the Ford V8 models. Paint code is M-1799. This might work for you.

It would appear that you are a new member of the FFV8CA. Welcome!

If you haven't purchased a copy of "It's Ford For 40" yet I would suggest it. Go to "Online Store" on the left side of your screen, click on "Ford Books". The book costs $50 but is well worth it!

Since I have a 40 Deluxe model, I'll defer to my fellow Club members who have 40 V8 models, and they can help you with more advice on the correct hubcap color that you're looking for.

Good luck with your 40 V8 coupe.

Tom

I'm not certain if there was a name for that color. There was an "M" code associated to it that will be of no use to you.
A VERY accurate replacement is Sign Painters One Shot, Reflex Blue. That can be found at Hobby Lobby and other places online.

  Thanks Tom.
This is my second '40', had a pickup before this coupe. I do have the 40's book the club put out.
It is a great reference.

Once again - Mike to the rescue! Thanks for your excellent help, bud.

Brent - glad you bought the 40 book. Check out Hobby Lobby and see what you can find.

Have a nice weekend.
