40 coupe, rewired with orig harnesses last year. Never really showed full charge. Now shows no charge BUT all other gauges work. Gen rebuilt, says putting out 7+ volts/ Anyone (Kube?) have any idea where volts going or what could be drawing it down?? Waiting on gaskets from Charlie NY as the front 97 is leaking. When I was able to get it to run it starts and runs, battery seems to stay charged. Any help, suggestions welcomed. Paul in CT Difficult to take voltage/continuity readings as Im alone.

The generator will have to be properly polarized before it will be able to charge the battery. To polarize a Ford (internally grounded) generator, remove the wire from field terminal of the regulator and momentarily touch it to the battery terminal of the regulator - you will see a spark. The generator is now polarized. Reconnect the wire to the field terminal and you are good to go.
