I am in the process of replacing the brake lines on my 41 pickup. The original rear lines are metal to the backing plate. I see rubber lines available for the rear of the truck. Is there any advantage to using the rubber lines? I figure I might use a coil of line and double flair the ends, in which case i could slip the protective springs over the line before I flair the ends. What have other people done? Thanks

rubber line is at the torgue tube end--metal down the wishbones to the rear backing plates

There is no advantage to using rubber lines from the axle housing to the wheel cylinder. There should be no movement between the hosing and the wheel cylinder. There is a disadvantage of using rubber lines there. You should replace the rubber lines after 10 years of use. They start to deteriorate on the inside and start causing problems around 10 years after installation. Your Ford has 3 rubber lines and you are proposing to add 2 more. Tom

NO rubber except the short hose between the rear line and frame fitting as well as the front hose(s) to each drum. Rubber can NOT be used to replace the steel lines. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
