Take a look at page 3-27 of "It's Ford for "40". It has a picture that shows the battery with the front oval painted.

Mike's excellent research states that the oval "was painted gold".

I'm sure that one of our members has a color photo of the painted battery to share with you, and further details on the correct shade of gold paint to use.

how do you paint the battery i have a printer ink roller i read somewhere that what to use what's your thoughts

I have heard a roller works well. I use a small brush with thinned paint. It flows out nicely.

Testor’s gold gave me a good result applied with a rubber printers / litho roller. I masked the outside edges of the roller and put a light coat of silicone on the recessed surfaces of the script letters for easy cleanup of any mistakes (none thanks to hard roller).

do you have the paint number for the testors like to keep as close as i can

tweetsmith01    -- 11-27-2021 @ 7:32 AM
kube what paint did you use

Testers gold and a small hobby rubber roller. No masking, no prep at all, just go for it, job is done before you think about it.
