Topic: Is our '40 Ford Convertible around?

Can someone tell me if a 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible, serial number 586743 is out there? I have family history, pictures and paperwork from 1942 through 1982 regarding this car. Also some ownership info past 1982. Car should now be maroon as it was when it was new.

You are missing one number in the VIN. My VIN is a 5864 number which would put mine as a June 40 build. There is a Star,18-5864xxx followed by another star on the frame. My title is wrong, it is missing a number. Carryover error I suppose.

Go to Fordbarn.com and post on that site also. If the car was around in 1982, it is out there somewhere. You might check the “for sale” ads on classic car.com, hemmings.com, and any other 40 Ford Convertible for sale ad. You’ll find it. Good luck.

That car was built between June 3, 1940 and June 27th. Same as my car! My son and I both have 67 Ford Broncos that had been built for the military and our serial numbers are five vehicles apart. I’ve had mine for over 30 years and he got his two years ago.
