Mike, your new book is awesome, can't put it down! Thanks for the time and effort it had to take to produce this authoritative and comprehensive source for the car I have always loved. I have a question about the info on the hot water heater. Was the hot water heater available as a factory installation as was the hot air heater and radio? Thanks,Steve

Thanks for the kind words. I'm obliged.

I did find a number of dealer invoices that clearly showed the hot water heater as installed FOR delivery (of the new car), so yes, the hot water heater could've been installed at the factory.

  Good Afternoon, Steve--

There is a book available through the vendors (Drake, Carpenter, etc.) that is a reprint of the "Ford Accessories" book for 1940. Tiny little thing - only 6 pages. Kinda comical, compared to the TONS of options available today.

Anyway, it does show the Hot Water Heater as a viable option. It cost $21.00 installed - such a bargain!

Incidentally, the same little book shows "The Ford Roto-Matic Single Button Radio" as an option. As you probably already know, the types of radios available were either Zenith or Philco. The radio option cost $40.00, so is was pretty pricey in 1940.

On another note - agree 100% on your comments about the "40 Book. Couldn't put my copy down either.

Tom
