Mike, please set the record straight: Any clue as to "why" Ford used two (2) different speedometers = Waltham and ? (don't know the name of the other supplier) ?? AND for judging which one should a person use if they were in a Deluxe that had a way of indexing the build to reflect which one? Thanks Ted

Waltham and Stewart-Warner supplied speedometers to Ford for our '40 passenger cars. Why Ford had two suppliers is anyone's guess at this date. My guess? Perhaps Ford was covering the proverbial bases. If one company fell short, they (Ford) could still have a reasonable confidence in obtaining enough from the other company. Or, it may have been simply that neither company was able to supply Ford with as many units required for production. There was no specific call for which one was installed in any particular car. Thus, you can use (accurately) either and be "correct". Mike "Kube" Kubarth
