I am in the process of rewiring my car.I am pulling out the old dash wiring harness. Is there no split on the firewall grommet to remove to get the harness through?Which way is the easiest way to go with wiring to remove?I am use to trucks they have a split grommet and cover which is so easy.Update/I got it out not sure if right way?I pushed the grommet through from inside out and pulled the gauge wiring through to engine compartment.I guess go back the same way with new harness????

I have found it easier to install the grommet over the harness in approximately the correct position before installing the harness.
And yes, it's easier to put it in from the engine side.
That grommet was actually integral of the harness when new.

Thanks Kube,I guess I will just split a new one and install when going back with new wiring.

There's no need to split the new one. Feed the wires through the grommet.

I would not split the grommet, just feed the dashboard wires through the grommet before installing the grommet and use a soap solution to aid in installing the grommet.

Sorry Men,I did not realize that.I thought it would be kinda tight trying to feed the wires through the grommet.Which side the engine side or the dash side?I thought the instrument light sockets would be tight going through?Update-I thought about this and maybe going with the engine side through the back of grommet would be best since the grommet does have a front and back side!Would this be correct?

Your last comment is correct. Feed the engine wires through the hole in the firewall then feed those wires into the backside of the grommet. Then push the grommet back into the firewall.
