Mike was there more than one style air cleaner for the '40?

There were three "stock" type - all variations of the dry type supplied to Ford by, you guessed it, three different manufacturers. There were also three oil bath types. Two were regular duty, supplied to Ford by two different companies and one was the heavy duty type, most likely typically found on trucks.

On the '40 I just bought it has an air cleaner(oil bath type) that is about 9" in diameter. The outer part has slotted holes all around the outside edge that are about 3" long and about 1/2' wide. It also has the threaded rod with the loop end that tightens the lip on the carb. Does this sound like an original part? I got lucky and posted a photo. Click on it to expand the photo.

Sorry, that isn't one of the authentic filters. I'm not certain what that is from.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't think it was a Ford item. Confirms my suspicions.

And I am almost positive that Mike will spell this out. The manufacture for the two regular duty air cleaners were Donaldson and United Air.
