Topic: "Gauges"save your face

I just purchased some nice, and rare gauges for my 1941 Original Willys coupe. When I was cleaning one of them , I noticed that they had the same shape, and size as my 1940 Ford gauges. Because they have a good size opening on the face at the base of the needle , it seems to me that someone with a steady hand could change the two faces, since both are 6 volts, and the back mounting is the same . If this is true, than any Ford or Mercury gauge from 1940 though 1948 will re-build a 1941 Willys gauge, as long as you have a good Willys face . It will also re-build any of these different year Ford gauges, as long as you have a good proper year Ford gauge face. This is the same way that people are re-building the gas sending units. Don't throw away the burned out part's, and don't buy anything made in China.
