Topic: Emergency Brake Cable

Mike "Kubes," My 1950 Ford sedans have a " Cable Clip" to the rear of the equalizer, that holds the cables together, forming an "X", making them a little shorter. Did the 1940 cars have that "Cable Clip" on the emergency brake cable? Mine doesn't, but even If they didn't, I think I could install one and that would fix my problem of the cables being too long. I am going to check and see if the cables on my 1950 are close to the diameter of my 1940, and if so, think about the possibility of obtaining one and installing it on my 1940 sedan. Your thoughts???

Regards, Steve Lee

The '40 had no such thing. However, installing some type of "fixture" that would draw up the cable a bit would (obviously) shorten the cable. Years ago, and perhaps yet today, a simple hook and lever type thing was available at parts stores.

  HI
I would research in a Parts catalog and see what they looked like,
some of the older cars used one cable,
jury rigs are dangerous,
do it right to be safe,
my 2 cents 37Ragtopman
