  I also need to know which lines go to which connections on the operating switch, and which lines go to which connectors on the vacuum canisters. Diagram anyone????

The only factory diagram that I am aware of has been posted.

It should be fairly easy to determine which line goes to which nipple on the switch.
Obviously, the vacuum supply hose goes to the nipple all by itself on one side of the switch.

Pull the switch knob out and blow through the supply nipple. The outlet that allows that air to escape is the nipple that will supply the top nipple on each cylinder. It will lower the top.

  The "Y" tee by the wiper motor has 3 ports, all for 1/4"I.D. tubing; which it has for the manifold hose and wiper hose, and it had a short piece with a bolt in it to block off the hose, (which is to short), to the "lone" vacuum port on the operating switch. Problem: All the ports on the operating switch (3), are 5/16" I.D. with a lip on them. What size hose will fit all, or is there a tee I can buy with (2) ports that are for 1/4" I.D. tubing, and (1 ) for 5/16 I.D. tubing?? I know I could buy 1/4"I.D. tubing that is of a thinner wall that would fit on the "lone" port, but it may collapse under vacuum. Also, what size I.D. hoses do I use to go from the "up" / "down"ports, that are 5/16 I.D. on the operating switch, to the metal lines that go to the rear vacuum cylinders? What a "Bag of Worms" this has become!!! "Kubes" are you there???

  That "T" is not a "Y" but an actual "T". It has three ports. One, 5/16" in diameter, is gathering the vacuum from the engine. The other 5/16" nipple supplies that vacuum to the switch. The 1/4" nipple feeds the wiper motor.
By the way, the tube threaded in the manifold is special for the convertible and is 5/16" diameter.

All hoses to and from the top switch are 5/16' diameter. I use fuel line hose as it is reinforced and will not collapse as you fear.

Thank you so much for you precise answers; they are just what I needed!
Is it safe to assume that the answers you just gave pertaining to sizes are O.D.'s? I realize now, from your answer that the system requires a "tee" at the vacuum line near the wiper motor, but mine had a "Y," which is apparently not to specs, and has the wrong size outlets.
I bought the car about 3 years ago, and never put the top down. The guy I got it from said the mechanism didn't work, and he just put it down "by hand." there are no no metal lines to the rear, or the tees needed there. I found this all out when I finally decided recently that I would like to make it mechanicly operative.
Can I buy the metal lines or fashion them from brakelines? What do you suggest?

  Steve, Brake line will work well. Ask the guy for 5/16" line. All lines, rubber & steel, are I.D. specified.
No one has ever reproduced these lines. The photos I'd posted previously on this site depict NOS lines I was fortunate enough to have purchased at Hershey a zillion years ago. That's right - a zillion
Those pictures should be of some help in bending your lines correctly.

"Thanks! Got the tubing all hooked up from manifold to tee to the w/wipers and to the top switch vacuum port.

I noticed when I was pushing that tubing on the top switch, that it moved a little at that seam in the middle, to the right (front view), left (rear view), which would be "unscrew."I moved it back toward tighten. Will it leak now? Should I take it apart and permatex it somewhere?

I found 3/8"O.D. copper,and it's the smallest I can find, and that is in all probability about 5/16 I.D. 3/8"O.D. is a little bit big to conceal across the floor and on the tunnel I went to O'Reilly auto supply, they only have short lengths of steel brake lines. Got any other options for me?? the (2) lines from the kick panel to the rear area and (4) lines under the rear seat will have total about 20'. I think I need the tubing used for things like refrigerator water lines- that's pretty small copper tubing.

What do you think ??

Any recommendations? ANYBODY???

  Steve,
Go to a real parts store. Napa comes to mind. Tell them you want 5/16" brake line. the longest they will have is 60" (5'). You can couple the lines as necessary with a union which they will also have.
I have attached yet another photo that may help you route your lines.

Oh, if you don't have easy access to a Napa store, I like McMaster-Carr (on line). they are quite reasonable, reasonable and very fast shipping and have about everything in God's creation.

  Steve, try Amazon. They have 25' coils of copper-nickle tubing. It is rust resistant and easy to form.
