Car runs ok sometimes.When it wont start when key and lever are turned on NOTHING shows as a discharge on the amp meter,it will show a discharge at times and will start then,where do I look first, I have a new bakalite piece with the small copper or brass strip to replace if nessory. Where else would I look ??? Ive been flat bedded tow truck twice in the past mth. Ive had the car for almost 30 yrs,this has me stumped. Ken ct

Use a test light to see if you have "fire" coming into the switch and going out of the switch when the ignition is turned on. Also check the two posts on the ignition resistor to see if you have "fire" on both sides when the switch is on.
