Are the 40 pumps ford script?

Ken, the Ford Script was not added to the water pumps until the spring of 1947. The script was added to Ford pumps to distinguish them from those pumps produced by spurious aftermarket suppliers.
Mike, I have a copy of the letter sent to branches if you want a copy. This information is contained in the same letter that advises the various branches of the introduction of Ford Tomato juice of all things.
This definitive information was found by Rusty Davis while researching post war cars, about 2 weeks after the current '40 book went to press way back when. Unfortunate timing, admittedly, but certainly some thing that needs to be included in the new book at a minimum and in any corrections to the current book that may be published should that effort come to fruition.   Ken, Roy is 100% correct in that the 1940 pumps do NOT have a script.
Also, there should NOT be three ribs on the pulleys as the current book advises. The ribs were added for machining purposes after WWII.
