Had my dad's 35 Ford worked on this week and discovered the left head has a hairline crack we never noticed. Can these be repaired or do we need to locate a replacement?

Can't say about repair without more information. Used heads are available. Is it aluminum or cast iron? Is there a part # cast on the face? If you do go the replacement route, make sure to use a head with the same part # .

Aluminum can be welded, but heads are not candidates. The compression and the interior erosion are big factors. It is much better to find a replacement. They are out there.
