I have a l949 convertible and the engine was painted bronze like the l950's. But if it were mine and I was going to repaint I would paint it blue like the 46-48's I know some people think that the early ones were blue and the later ones were bronze but I don't think so. I have read from peophle that should know that probably all were blue. Most people that are old like me can not remember what color they were, back when. I had one with 38,000 miles on it in l954 and I don't remember the color. The only other one that is have seen in a museum was painted blue. It up to you.....

Matt, According to the EFV8 Club Judging manual, the '49 passenger car engine was painted blue except the head bolts are black. Only '50 and '51 are Bronze. Don
