Saw a 48 ford pickup today, stock except for the 15 inch wheels. Looked good. I have a 36 ford coupe with 35 spoke 600/16 wheels. Was wondering what 15 inch wheel would work.. The truck owner said 39-40 mercury wheels or something like that. The only reason for change would be that there are more 15 inch tires available locally. Maybe.

If you have a '36 Ford with '35 style wire wheels, this would indicate that you have '40 and/or later drums. The 15" wheels you are referring to came as standard equipment on the '47-48 Merc's. The 39/40 Merc's did not have 15" tires/wheels. This wheel will be 15 x 4.5/5.0" with five lugs 5 on 5.5". The same size and style of wheel came on the F-100's starting in '57 and continuing through '66. The '57/66 wheels will be a little wider, possibly 5" and up to 5.5". All of these wheels will have the internal hub cap knobs in lieu of the raised external knobs. Any passenger car hub cap '40/48 will fit the pickup wheels....Bill Bill 36 5 win delx cpe
