My 39 sedan has the original trunk mat, however it is extremely brittle, any attempts at moving it to access tool compartment and it would break. I have not seen a listing for replacement mats in any of the big name catalogs, anyone know of a source?? Also, how close would a 39 ford 4 dr trunk mat be? Thanks

It may well be the same as Ford as all the extra length in a Merc. is from the cowl forward. Try to get a look at 39-41 fords 4 drs. at car shows. ken ct.

The 39 Merc is wider than a 39 Ford and I believe the trunk is deeper, so the trunk mat will not fit. Try a 41-48 sedan trunk mat. It will be closer in size than the 39 Ford, and will fit better. Unfortunately no one makes rubber mats for the 39-40 Mercury. KenCT, the 39, 40 and 49-51 Mercury bodies are unique to Mercury and I do not know of any body or trim parts that will interchange with contemporary Fords. The 41-48 bodies are the same from the cowl back and some parts will interchange.

I was more referring him to 41-48 fords. Not sure if they are wider also in the mercs. Thanks Tom. ken ct.
