Have a look at the steel repro skirts by Jeff's Customs - Arizona. Beautiful. $250/set. Regards, Chris. New Zealand.

Ken, Value is, as you well know, determined by how much a guy is willing to pay. Now, from my experience (fairly lengthy) I have never seen a pair of proper (authentic) '40 skirts with ALL of the brackets, wires, rubbers, etc. go for more than $1000. And, keep in mind that pair was stunningly restored. Typical used skirts that are not beat up, are complete and require minor metal finishing & paint bring in the $600 - $700 (tops) range. Hope this helps.

Thanks Kube and Tom for the pictures. Now knowing they are not Ford, I subsequently Googled fender skirts and see they are like the "Foxcraft" repros that MAC sells.

Hi Tom, I knew the '39 skirts differed but forgot just how much. I have restored only two pair of the '39 skirts. And well, just plain getting older doesn't seem to be helping my memory bank one bit. Thanks for posting that photo of the '39 skirt. I could not find one in my collection.

Mike, I believe that you had a "Brain Check". The 40 Ford skirts had the teardrop shape shown in your photo and were mounted outside of the wheel opening. The 39 skirts were more rounded and fit inside the opening like the 37-38 skirts. See attached photo of 39 skirt.

I can't speak for '37 - '38. However, '39 skirts appeared nearly identical to '40 skirts. However, '39 skirts had a chrome plated "lock" at the very top - center.

Thanks, Kube, I was afraid that they were not OEM. Fordbarn had some pictures for 37 and 38 skirts and they looked like they went into the fender opening. These look like they go over the fender opening. I wondered if Ford changed the design in 39-40.

Those are not Ford OEM skirts. They appear as if they would fit 39 - 40. I have attached a photo of a correct (OEM) skirt. The reversed side I believe is a bit more telling than the outer view. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
