I am restoring my first 1935 Ford coupe and would like to know if anyone has the paint code or a source for the correct paint for the dashboard. Thanks. Bill

Bill- You didn't say which model, standard or deluxe. A "possibility" would be: http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?year=1935&make=Ford&model=All&gncl=All&action=Get+Paint+Codes. The colors listed a re mostly body colors but an email might prove helpful. As for me, I have a '35 deluxe and a dash color close to original which I have the paint formula, if interested. Tom

Tom, Thanks for the reply. I believe it is a standard, it has one tail light and one horn, but it also has a chrome grill and dual gauges. I suspect that the original owner may have opted for the dual gauges, or that other owners over the years, have added as they desired. I have found and corrected some issues, such as someone installed a 1937/38 steering column drop. What references I do have is that they used a maroon on standard cars and then went to a metallic taupe on deluxe cars. Not sure what to use on this one, but I would appreciate it if you could share your paint formula. Thanks again. Bill

Bill- Dash Paint Formula This is an acrylic enamel and is readily available and reasonable. Here is the formula: Nason paint (made by Dupont) 430-31 med. alumin. 97.4 g 430-01 h.s. black 134.4 430-44 blue 141.2 430-28 bright white pearl 150.9 434-94 acrylic binder 454.9 430-03 80 430-05 40 430-24 30 430-01 50 No guarantees this is a super-perfect match for metallic taupe. However, if it isn't it is not far from it! I believe the cost is about $35 for a quart plus the hardener. I have used this on a couple of '35s and I am very happy with the results. Hope this helps. Tom, I hate to trouble you any further, but I stopped by the paint store today and they told me they needed a paint code or a formula number to mix the paint. Would you happen to have either of these? Bill

Bill- I am kind of confused as to what the paint jobber wants. The numbers above IS the paint formula. They should be able to mix it without a problem. Did you go to a jobber that is a DuPont/Nason distributor? Tom

Tom, Yes, I went to a shop called Color March here in Mobile, and they are a Dupont Paint outlet. In fact they have a advertisement for Nason paint on the wall. I suspect I am dealing with a lack of competency at the counter. The young lady seemed to recognize that what I was giving her was a paint formula, but said she needed either the paint code or the formula number to price the product. I am not really sure that she needs what she is asking for, but was hoping to take the path of least resistance if you had the requested number(s). Bill
