Topic: pulling block over anti-chatter rods

I have the engine in my 40 ready to pull out with the exception of chatter rod removal. At the frame, does it take an inserted square socket to remove chatter rod? I have chatter rods loosened at the block. Will the block side over the rod easily?

You will most likely bend the rods if they are in place on removal of the engine. If you take a large bolt and grind down the diameter to fit in the square drive, you have a good chance of removing them. You can reuse the bolt to re-assemble.

Roy nacawich a vendor on here can supply the correct special bolts if needed. Scocket extentions are available to fit the square odd ball hole. Its not 1/4" or 3/8". I purchased one at a local parts place here a couple of yrs ago, they had some hanging on the wall ,they are available in the proper size. ken ct.
