Given that Group 2LF batteries can no longer be obtained, will EFV8 Judges cut us some slack on the Concours field???

They should considering the average Joe doesn't have thousands of $$ to buy or find the correct parts which are no longer being made.to win a $ 5 trophy. OMO ken ct.

That's a very good question, and one that may at some point be addressed by the Judging Standards Committee.
Many people believe that the more specific that laws get, the more abuse becomes possible and likely.
With that idea in mind, a careful reading of the Judging Rules can prove fruitful, in that there may be a rule that could apply in such a case.
As for how any individual Judge may view the issue, Judges are human, so your guess is as good as mine.

Summit Racing is still showing them in it online catalog. Have you tried them?

C&G lists an Optima inside a 2LF script case, but the battery sticks out of the bottom of the case by 1". requiring a modification to the battery tray.

The Summit site shows the battery but also says it is not available. Its been that way for quite some time now....

  Sorry, MG, I missed that.

If the C&G battery is not available, and you do not want to lose the 9 points, you can advertise for a used battery and put an Optima in it.

You can also bring it up the the Judging Standards Committee. Maybe they will reduce the point deduction for a non-script battery.

Tom, The Optima no longer fits in the 2LF, so even if he finds a 2LF case, there is still the fitment issue, and the Judging Standards Committee is unlikely to approve an Optima in any case. In my opinion, going strictly by the rules and rightly so, a non script substitute would draw 7 points, plus a likely deduction on the hardware, while a 2HF with a neatly modified hold-down would be the least likely to draw a deduction. That said, there is always the modification so neatly done that it isn't detected as being incorrect, and this is where ingenuity becomes important in presenting a high point car.
