Topic: '51 Ford Turn Indicators

I'm trying to clean up the under-dash wiring on my '51. I notice that the main harness is cloth covered but the wiring to the turn signal switch is plastic. The switch and its associated wiring are not shown in my shop manual (dated Nov 24th, 1950) although the connection block and wiring to the bulbs are shown. Do all '51 Fords have plastic wiring to the turn signal switch or has mine had a newer replacement switch installed? The conduit down the steering column certainly looks like a stock item.

I believe that the plastic wiring harness was a service replacement. Many states did not require turn signals as standard equipment until the mid 1950's.
