Hi, guys. I just need my 42 to roll for now, so what I'm looking to do is find current/modern cheap steel wheels that will fit both the car and some near-junk used tires. After trying to learn on the internet since yesterday afternoon, I believe the car has a 5x5-1/2 bolt pattern, so will any wheel that matches those dimensions work? Could the center have a hole for the hub that is too small to fit over the dust cap, etc? Any other considerations? If not, I'm off to the junk yard. Again, I have all the original wheels. My understanding is that if I can find used tires in, say 205/65-15, they will NOT fit the original wheels. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Elmo

I believe that 15" ford truck wheels through the 70s or maybe the 80s will work.

Most of the later wheels actually have a larger center hole. Any Ford pickup wheel up into the mid to late 80's should fit. You could also find some wheel adapters that would go from 5 1/2 to 4 1/2 and use later Ford passenger car wheels. You could also go to your local Pick N Pull and get some donut spares with the 5 1/2 pattern. Those are usually about $15 each.

Some jeep and IHC Scouts used the same pattern and larger center hole.

Thanks, guys. All good ideas. I'll get whatever I find first at the salvage yard. And it makes sense that the later ones probably have a larger hole in the center.
