Hello Everyone, Yesterday, about six times in 15 miles, the engine in my 39 Deluxe Tudor seemed to just cut out for an instant and then resume running normally. I am wondering what could be the cause of this behavior. The engine had been running fine the last 1000 miles or so. I was driving 50-55 mph. Gas tank was full. The ambient temperature was in the 70s. The coolant temperature was normal, about 165 F. I will appreciate all opinions and suggestions. Thanks. Larry

I had this problem on my '41 and the cause was the condensor. At some point grease got in the mounting hole which caused the screw to not get tight enough.

Lack of fuel feels and acts like lack of spark. If you've been thinking of installing an electric fuel pump as a backup, now would be a good time to do it. Alan

Check for loose connections from the ignition switch to the resister and then to the coil. If all connections are secure, check out the ignition switch. The switches have a moveable arm that can get worn and loose tension and the switch plate can develop worn ares also. The resister can also develop some corrosion at the connections where the wire is riveted to the terminal. Tom

Thanks all. I changed the condenser and the car ran OK today. Hopefully, that was the problem. Larry
