I have just purchased a car with these engine numbers on it and want to know what it is for sure. On the heads it is C7RA and A5AE. on the front left on top of the block is the number 12R0178 .The head has the Ford emblem on it and also says made in Canada. There is also a looks to be some sort of heat exchange on the exhaust pipe just off the manifold, it has 2 holes on top with what looks to be gears for lack of a better description.Any ideas?

Without a photo, it is difficult to identify the engine. The heat exchanger on the exhaust manifold sounds like the description for the hot air heater heat exchanger. What year vehicle is this engine in and is it just a spare engine? Here is a link to some photos that identify different year Ford flathead engines. Tom
