I have the opportunity to buy what is described as a Paddy Wagon. The owner says that only about 490 of these were made & this particular one was used by Cook County, Il to haul individual prisoners to/from jail & the courthouse. It’s made similar to a panel truck except that it has a single seat in the box with shackles & a cell type door on the back. The truck is running & driving, but still needs some TLC. It also still has the mechanical brakes. So far I haven’t been able to find anything like it on the web. I don’t have any pictures yet, but intend to have some soon. Any information/advice will be greatly appreciated

Your vehicle is outside of the years covered on this site. Probably the best place to post your question would be the Model A section of fordbarn.com. You might also want to try ahooga.com. One of the two national Model A clubs has added a forum section but I don't remember which. The two national Model A web sites are mafca.com and modelaford.org. Although your question is more suited to a Model A site we might be able to answer some of your questions. When special vehicles were required, many body builders ordered a "bare" chassis from a dealer and then fabricated the body, such as fire engines and your mentioned "paddy wagon". That being said try to locate any builders tags located somewhere on the body. Documentation is everything with a vehicle like this, you don't want to purchase a fake "paddy wagon" that someone built in his garage, that will have zero historical value. You could also contact Cook County and try to get pictures or any info on this vehicle. A real "paddy wagon" could be a fun project but a fake, is just a fake.

If it was used by Cook County, Illinois it probably has a lot of miles on it. They transported almost all of their politicians to and from the jail.
