what is the correct way to test the overdrive solenoid, Governor and relay working OK BUD

If you are testing it on the bench. connect the case of the solenoid to one terminal of the battery, and apply power to the blue wire. The solenoid should pull if the other wire from the unit is also grounded thru the points inside the case. When the solenoids reaches the end of its travel, those points open, and the holding coil keeps the plunger up until the power is removed.

Here is the circuit diagram. The one above is a tool I made to test the OD balk ring to see if it was jammed.
