  Hello,

I am looking for any info on identifying these fender skirts. I have searched the internet for info but have come up empty handed. Any help would be appreciated.

  Thank you!

Any idea as to the manufacturer? It seems to me that they were an aftermarket product.

Yes, that is a 1934 Ford Fender skirt.
Originally made by Gar Wood Industries in Detroit, they are "Aroflo Fender Guards". As a direct result of the Chrysler & DeSoto Airflow cars, these Aroflo skirts were sold by Ford Dealers for $8.00 a pair. Dealers paid $4.80 wholesale. (Ad is attached, courstesy of the 34 Ford Restoration Guide by the Early Ford V8 Club.) Amazing because a lugguage rack cost $37.50.
Gar Wood was a mahogany boat builder and boat racer that branched out to auto accessories. Rare and costly today, these skirts were reproduced in the 1970's by a guy in Minnesota. I've heard he made about 30 sets, then quit.
On the originals, the V8 emblem was stainless steel and the reproductions the emblem is polished aluminum. For the people I know that use them, they prefer the reproductions because they hold on better than the originals. As evidenced by mine staying on for 10 Glidden Tours and many other long tours (Like the 2005 Glidden Tour out of Altoona PA, pictured in previous post by Len47Merc)
I love them and think the car looks funny without them now when I take them off to clean the wheels. Originally purchased for my 34 Phaeton,, I decided they looked better on the Fordor.

Thank you for that wealth of knowledge! This will certainly help me out quite a lot.

The pair I have is in great shape, but I don't have the 34 ford to put them on . I'll try to look around for a value for the set so I can get them into someone's hands to enjoy. BTW they look great on your 34 in the photo!

I have a EFV8 member friend that is looking for a pair for his 34 Ford. What do you want for them?
