How you paint the black stripes on grooves on a chrome bumper I am replacing on my 1935 Ford Deluxe? Should I use a decal?

Try striping tape, it's available from any auto body supply and comes in several widths.

Go to a hobby and purchase a paint pen [its like a magic marker] only contains paint. Tip is just the right width for a bumper. Did mine yrs ago and still looks good. [hobby shop] ken ct.

Do you have to prepare the chrome surface in the groove so the paint can adhere or stick and if you do whats the remedy for this?

Fold some sandpaper in 1/2 or twice and rub it through the groove, basic thinking my man. ken ct.

Buy some adhesion promoter sold at automotive paint suppliers. mask off the bumper and spray it. Then you can spray paint in the groove.

RC Model car guys use a product known as liquid mask. Really cheap.. You brush on several coats and let them dry.. Then with an exacto knife you cut your lines, and peal off the area to be painted.. You can get much better lines than I have been able to get with tape..

I have used bull dog adhesion promoter and it seems to work well but none of what I have done has been in the elements for any time, so long term results are unknown
