I replaced my broken speedometer cable casing and all. Everything connected just like original .going down the road the cable doesn’t turn.any suggestions?

It can only be one of several things. 1). The cable is not engaged at the speedometer or torque tube (drive gear) end 2). You have a bad drive gear 3). The internal gear on your drive shaft has disengaged (from improper installation) from the speedometer drive gear or was left out of the torque tube all together

I dug into it this morning.it’s the speedometer you can’t spin it.it hasn’t spun for over 40 years.

Take the speedo out, easy peasy. Set it face down and put some Kroil oil in and let sit a few days. Repeat the process turning as you can. I freed up a stuck 34 speedo that way. TIM CARLIG

If dean333's treatment doesn't work there are speedo rebuilders out there, or as I did, I bought an NOS speedo for my '47. A little unrelated .... my '47 came to me as not concourse show worthy. Having issues with the display of my add-on silent directional turn signal operation, I disassembled the speedo carefully and installed the two 1/8 inch diameter directional LED flasher-beeper bulbs in the speedo face, one each side of center. Now its obvious to me when the directionals are operating or when the emergency flashers are on. This message was edited by Drbrown on 4-29-24 @ 7:48 AM
