Does anyone have a description or a picture of the hood catch for the '38 ? The green book lists a part number The hole where it mounts is "D" shaped, but I have no idea of the length or shape. Part no. is 81A-16627A and there is a picture but too small to tell the shape. This message was edited by SUPERTOOL on 4-17-17 @ 7:59 PM

If it's a Deluxe, the hood "catches" upon a strut that projects behind the lower Grille assembly. The top of this strut is "formed" with a "pinched receptacle" to engage the latch. There is NO "emergency catch" as many later Fords had. Attached is a diagram of the "assembly" showing the part number 81A16526 which is the "catch" that secures the hood upon closure.
