Topic: 1949 1950 1951 fenders the same?

I am wondering if 1949 and 1950 and 1951 Mercury front fenders are all the same.

Are they interchangeable? Would the difference be no more than holes for trim installation?

There's a '51 fender here which is going to be posted for sale. Will it fit on a '49 and/or a '50?

Grant, I believe that there is difference in the grill opening area.

Hi Grant, I'm new to the site. I believe you had an older thread on a "weird flathead tranny set up for a 53 F100..?

I'm restoring a 53 Mercury M100 with the exact same set up as what you posted in 2011.

I'm looking for the bellhousing starter plate.. Covers the bottom portion of the tranny and tourque converter. I'm wondering if you have any information as to where I could find one.

Thanks
Mark

You can try a Parts Wanted ad in the Classified section of this website and also on the Ford Barn website.

I'm getting to this post late but I figured that this information should be posted. The 49 Mercury Fenders are different than the 50 & 51 enough that they would not fit correctly. The 50 & 51 are the same shape but do have different trim holes. They could be modified. It would be easier to make a 50 fender fit the 51 trim since it would be a matter of drilling holes for the grill bar extensions but modifying the other way would require welding up the trim holes so it's not quite as easy but do-able.

I think there is one of those tranny covers on ebay right now under 1953 Mercury parts if you are still looking for one. Not sure if it is the right one.
