Topic: 47 Merc Coupe Trunk Latch

JONE    -- 07-22-2015 @ 9:27 AM
I believe that my early 47 coupe may have the wrong trunk latch, and/or striker plate. The trunk can be opened by simply lifting the handle without twisting it. Locking the trunk does not help. I have tried adjusting the striker plate in various positions but nothing seems to help. Can anybody provide me with photos of the latch and striker plate, or part numbers of both?

  The striker P/N is 11A-7243252

The lock assembly P/N is 11A-7243200

Both parts seem to be unique to the Coupe and Convertible.

You should be able to use one from a car built from 1941-1948.

Here is a drawing of the latch

Thanks Tom, it appears that the latch plate, striker, on my car is the 11A 7043252. Somebody must have changed that at some time in my car's past. That appears to be the sedan part. Bob Drake has 11A 7243252 in their catalog, I guess I'll place an order for it soon.
